Liverpool manager Arne Slot has revealed the message he received from Jurgen Klopp following their title win last weekend.

The Reds sealed the Premier League title on April 27 with a 5-1 win over Tottenham Hotspur at Anfield.

It was the first time in over 30 years that they were able to celebrate with fans, as their last league title came during Covid.

Slot described the celebrations as “amazing” and said it was “really special” to be a part of.

He added: “For many of the Liverpool fans it was the best day of their lives and it was the same for me.”

The Dutchman confirmed that Klopp was one of the many he received a congratulations message from.

The former Reds boss said to Slot: “Now you know how special of a club it is, now you are part of the history as well.”

Slot said he has felt a connection with the fans from the day he arrived at the club but added: “If you win a trophy together it lifts it to a new dimension.”

He is set to change his line-ups for the remaining four games of the season, starting with Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Sunday, and give a chance to some players who have had a lack of minutes so far.

On Harvey Elliott wanting to stay at Liverpool despite not getting much of a look-in this season, he said: “Harvey is one of them who hasn’t had enough playing time as he has deserved but he is in competition with good players and he was injured.

“I have been honest with him, he wasn’t the same when he came back [from injury] but the last few months he’s back to his old level again.”

Liverpool go into Sunday’s fixture against Chelsea with the title already secured, but they will still want to win their remaining games.

The former Feyenoord manager commented on his surprise at the gap between Liverpool and Chelsea now, stating that the London club were “the better team on the pitch” when they played at Anfield back in October.

Chelsea have a lot to play for, as they are still in the fight for Champions League places, so it won’t be an easy fixture for the Reds.

Conor Bradley will return to training today and should be available to make the squad at the weekend.

Chelsea v Liverpool kicks off at 4:30pm this Sunday May 4.
