Everton midfielder Fabian Delph has withdrawn from the latest England squad for the Euro 2020 qualifiers against Czech Republic and Bulgaria due to injury.
The 29 year old picked up a muscle injury during Everton’s 1-0 defeat to Burnley over the weekend.
Despite being a man short, Gareth Southgate has opted against calling up a replacement for the Evertonian, believing his current squad is strong enough to tackle the back-to-back away games.
Delph has 20 England caps and is a reliable player for Southgate, having picked him in his latest World Cup squad despite being unable to be a regular at Manchester City.
Delph will return to Merseyside to be assessed by Everton’s medical staff. Everton currently sit 18th in the Premier League so they will be hoping Delph’s injury is not too serious.
