David De Gea is now a serious doubt to feature in Manchester Utd’s huge Premier league clash against Liverpool this Sunday.
The goalkeeper appeared to hurt his groin in Spain’s Euro 2020 qualifier with Sweden. The injury occurred whilst the 28 year old was taking a goal kick.
This comes as another setback to a Man Utd team already struggling with injuries as they prepare to entertain league leaders Liverpool at Old Trafford this weekend. Sergio Romero is the most likely option to replace the Spaniard if he is not fit to start. The Argentinian has so far featured in the League Cup and Europa League for the Red Devils this season.
They will take on a Liverpool team in incredible form who have won all 8 of their league games this season and who are also aiming for an 18th consecutive Premier League victory, something that would take them level with Manchester City for most consecutive league wins.
De Gea recently negotiated a new long term contract which will see him stay at Old Trafford for the foreseeable future following months of speculation about his future.
