Neal Skupski and Jamie Murray lost in three tight sets today at the Kremlin Cup in Moscow.
The player from Liverpool and Andy Murray’s older brother had just come off a strong Asian swing, making the semi-finals for two straight weeks. They were the second seeds in Moscow and had hopes of having another strong run this week.
The all-British pair lost 4-6, 6-3, and 10-4 to Jebavy/Zelenay in their first round match. It was a tight match, only decided in a match tiebreak, but Skupski and Murray failed to win the most important points.
The British pair only joined this year, and has already had satisfying results, including at Grand Slams. However, they are still looking to win their first title together.
Next week, Neal Skupski will be the defending champion in Vienna, where he won the title last year alongside his older brother, Ken Skupski. The player from the Merseyside will be looking to replicate that again this year and bring the trophy home for the second time in as many years.
