Great news for Liverpool fans as Joel Matip has signed a new deal that will keep him at the club until 2024.
The 28 year old needed to work hard to be a first team player when he first joined on a free from FC Schalke back in 2016. But now, with 107 appearances for the kop side, Matip has not only become a favourite amongst his players and fans but also Jurgen Klopp.
Matip has started in eight fixtures this season for the reds and only been on the bench for one fixture of the premier league. The German has had a brilliant start to season with already scoring two goals as well as help keep goals out with three clean sheets.
Jurgen Klopp is happy with the new dear that Joel has signed for the club and believes that he has reached a world class level. He told Liverpoolfc.com “I am absolutely delighted that he has shown his commitment to us by signing this new long-term contract”
Now Matip has signed a new contract with Liverpool, his main priority will be focused on the bitter rivalry between them and Manchester United at Old Trafford this Sunday. Liverpool will be looking to maintain their current form and stay unbeaten in the premier against against an out of form Manchester United.
