Everton got back to winning ways on the weekend against West Ham with the Toffees dispatching the Hammers in a dominating 2-0 performance.
Blues boss Marco Silva picked out two individuals who impressed him during the game, those being senior player Theo Walcott and Liverpool native Tom Davies.
Silva described the 21-year-old as ‘something special’ as he said:
“Tom is something special for me because he loves the club, he is a lad from our club and he is special, it doesn’t matter if he’s played ten or thirty games for me.
Davies made his first start of the season against West Ham and ran the midfield with partner Andre Gomes.
The Everton midfielder is often criticised for losing possession and giving the ball away unnecessary.
But the England Under 21’s captain kept the ball more than any other player on the pitch on the weekend, having an 85 percent pass completion in the game.
Questions have risen whether Davies should be in contention for a place in the England squad. Fans have been voicing their opinions about the selection and performances of Declan Rice in a Three Lions shirt.
Whilst Davies plays a slightly further forward role than the West Ham midfielder, he will be able to add another pressing dimension to the side.
He put in a great audition against the Hammers and has surely put his name in the mix for the next round of international games.
