Neal Skupski and Jamie Murray easily defeated the Austrian doubles team 6-1, 6-0 to make it through to the quarterfinal.
Skupski who teamed up with Jamie Murray last summer, just before Wimbledon, has already participated in a couple of tournaments so far this season, but never made it past the semifinals.
The 30 year-old Merseyside player and Murray are still looking for their first ATP title together, after a successful second half of 2019.
The British pair will be looking for a successful week, after a tough and disappointing lost in the second round of the Australian Open, the first Grand Slam of the season.
Skupski and Murray are scheduled to play their quarterfinal match against Croatian brothers, Ivan Sabanov and Matej Sabanov.
After Montpellier, the British doubles team are expected to play in small ATP events before heading to Indian Wells and Miami, for the first Masters 1000 of the season.
