The points were shared between John Moores and the University of Liverpool in the first ever cycling Varsities.
Twenty members from the two universities took part in the event with a men and women’s race.
Rain and wind provided difficult conditions for the riders to overcome.

The men’s race lasted 45 minutes while the women’s race was 25 minutes.
Toby Johnston of the University of Liverpool was the winner of the men’s race after a sprint finish with Alexander Smith.
Grace Shorrock ensured a share of the points for John Moores with a comfortable win in the women’s race.
Shorrock cruised to victory with Amy Edwards taking second place.

LJMU cycling captain Alexander Smith was delighted that cycling is now an event in varsities:
“It brings a bit of community between the two universities with a competitive edge”,
“We have a few more plans in the works for us to do more stuff together”.
