Liverpool Women will welcome Blackburn Rovers to Prenton Park again this weekend – this time for the third round of the Continental Cup.
The Reds beat Rovers 3-1 in a pre-season friendly in August and will be looking for a similar result this Sunday.
Liverpool boss Matt Beard is expected to make several changes due to multiple injuries and squad rotation.
Eartha Cummings is expected to start in place of Rachael Laws, who suffered a knock during training last week. Assistant manager Amber Whiteley confirmed Laws is set to be out for about two weeks.
Another brutal blow to the Reds is an injury to midfielder Ceri Holland. The Wales international has been out after suffering a groin problem at Manchester City last month.
Speaking to LFCTV Beard said: “Obviously it’s a blow for us because Ceri has been in such good form this season, but we’ve got a squad for these situations and, of course, it will be an opportunity for other players to show their qualities.”
One player that will be keen to make it into the starting XI is Rhiannon Roberts who impressed after coming on as a substitute in the 3-3 draw against Reading on Thursday, scoring the third goal.
The Reds missed out on taking the three points as Reading scored a last-minute equaliser. The draw sees them without a win in the WSL since September and leaves them 10th place in the table with only five points, one above relegation.
Beard believes this weekend’s cup game could be a stern test. He told LFCTV: “Blackburn are in good form and they are a tough team to play against but hopefully we can get another three points and set us up nicely for that last game in the group at home against Manchester City.”
The game kicks off at Prenton Park at 2pm.
