It was another afternoon to forget for Caldy in the Championship Cup Group C as Cornish Pirates ran out 52-5 winners at Mennaye Field.
The Pirates started well and went ahead in the seventh minute as Bear Williams crossed the line under the sticks, with Bazalgette converting to make it 7-0.
Hayden King put the Pirates further ahead in the 21st minute, followed by Bazalgette’s second conversion of the game to make it 14-0.
In the 32nd minute, Caldy scored with Ted Stagg bringing it across the line but the conversion was missed.
Joe Elderkin scored the Pirates’ third try just before half-time. However, no conversion which left the half-time scores 19-5 to Pirates.
The second half started as the first ended, as the Pirates scored a bonus point try in the 44th minute thanks to Morgan Nelson. Bazalgette kicked his third of the game too for a 26-5 lead.
A quick double in the 62nd and 69th, thanks to tries from Jarrard Hayler and Will Crane respectively, left the pirates up 38-5.
Bazalgette missed the first conversion but Carwyn Penny kicked the second through the posts.
Two more Pirates tries from AJ Cant and Ali Stacey rounded out the game, Penny kicking both conversions to make it three for the game.
It was an excellent day in the office for the Pirates, picking up a 52-5 win. Caldy were blown away in the second half by a relentless attack.
Pirates win sees them progress to the Championship Cup semi-finals, additionally a possible home tie could await them.
For Caldy meanwhile, the loss effectively rules them out of progression in the cup, after another dismal display.
