Southport face Banbury United at The Big Help Stadium in the hope of regaining some form following back-to-back losses in the Vanarama National League North (Saturday Oct 28).
The league standings see six teams, 19th-14th, all within a point of each other. With Banbury sitting in the more comfortable 14th position, Southport are only one point behind in 19th making this a vital match for both squads.
Southport
The home side come into this fixture off the back of defeats to both Peterborough Sports and Chester in the last week. With the team edging closer to the bottom of the league, the Sandgrounders will be looking to get back on track and collect the three points against Banbury.
Not only are Southport pointless in their last couple of fixtures, but they are goalless too. Star forward and top scorer Marcus Carver will be hoping to get back among the goals, having not done so in the league since his hat-trick against King’s Lynn Town early last month.
Banbury United
The Puritans will be confident as they head to the northwest after doing the double and collecting all six points against Southport last season.
Mark Jones’ side come into the fixture after a dominant 2-1 win over Boston United away from home on Tuesday.
Southport will have to look out for the Banbury strike force of Ken Charles and the in-form Adi Yussuf. The pair have a combined total of six goals in the league this season, being at the heart of all things positive going forward.
Southport v Banbury United kicks off at 3:00pm on Saturday 28 October at The Big Help Stadium, Haig Avenue.
