The Liverpool half marathon and ten miler are set to take place this Sunday, March 23 at 9am.
With the London marathon approaching, many runners use the Liverpool half as a test of their progress.
The ten-mile race has become a favourite for those wanting to push themselves further than a regular 10k.
Both events can be a great way to see the sights of Liverpool, especially for those travelling from across the world.
The half marathon course
The half marathon course, spanning 13.1 miles, will start and finish at the Pier Head area.
It is a predominantly flat route, except for an incline just after the first mile on Upper Parliament Street.
The course then moves through Princes Road before reaching Ullet Road at around three miles.
Runners will be taken through Sefton Park on a couple of occasions, where they will pass the Palm House before heading toward the lake at the bottom end of the park.
Exiting Sefton Park, the route follows a stretch along Aigburth Drive, towards Otterspool Park and the waterfront promenade.

The final leg of the race takes runners pass the Liverpool Marina and is a four mile stretch to the finish.
At the 12-mile mark, the course passes the Liverpool Arena followed by the Albert Dock.
Runners will cross the dock bridge near the Liverpool Museum as they approach the finish line.
Four water stations will be available along the route, where there will also be toilet facilities.
The ten miler course
The ten mile course shares the same start and finish as the half marathon.
Runners will follow a path along Princes Road, Devonshire Road, and Belvidere Road before making a right turn off Ullet Road towards Sefton Park.
They will make a U-turn after a short stretch on Aigburth Road and continue in the opposite direction before rejoining the half marathon runners at the bottom of the park.
The route will pass through a main road underpass to Otterspool Park and Otterspool Promenade towards the city centre.
It will finish in the same way as the half marathon, with a four mile stretch to the finish.
Road closures
The first eight miles of the half marathon course will see road closures, from the Pier Head start area as far as Otterspool Park.
After the eight mile point on Aigburth Drive, runners will be off the public highway.
Roads will be opened as runners pass through each location.
