Everton boss David Moyes is eyeing his first win at Anfield in his long managerial career at the Merseyside derby tomorrow.
Before the international break, Everton drew 1-1 with West Ham United which saw a last-minute Jake O’Brien header rescue a point for the Toffees.
Meanwhile, Liverpool lost 2-1 to Newcastle United in the Carabao Cup final.
This may give some confidence to Everton to find their first win at Anfield since 2021, and Moyes’ first win at Anfield in his career.
Moyes told the media today: “It’s a big game, it always has been for us to go to Anfield and try and get a result.
“But we go again, we’ve got another chance to try it again.
“It would be huge for us as a club to get that (victory) because it’s not something that the club here have done particularly often.
“We might be further away from Liverpool than we’ve ever been at the moment.
“I think by the time we had left here, maybe 10 years ago or so, I think we were much closer to Liverpool. We were competing in the same areas of the league.”
He also spoke about how his team are going to attempt to stop Mohamed Salah.
“He’s such a talented player. We had done quite a good job on him in the first game.
“So, we’ll have to hope we can do something similar in this game.”
As for the injury situation, Moyes confirmed Iliman Ndiaye and Dwight McNeil are getting closer to returning and are currently taking part in training sessions.
Vitalii Mykolenko suffered an injury on international duty, but the club are optimistic that it is not serious.
Meanwhile, Dominic Calvert Lewin is still a while away from returning.
Everton play Liverpool at Anfield tomorrow (Wednesday April 2) kick off 8pm.
