The Friedkin Group are looking at keeping Goodison Park for Everton Women to use as their new home, according to The Times.
The historic ground will be vacant at the end of the season when the men’s team move to Bramley Moore Dock.
The club’s new owners are now assessing whether the move will be financially viable.
The Goodison Legacy project was announced in 2021, which would involve building 10 new development blocks on the ground currently occupied by Goodison Park.
However, these plans have rarely been updated since the announcement of the project.
Everton Women currently play at Walton Hall Park which has a maximum capacity of 2,000.
Manager Brian Sorensen told the BBC in January that the new owners were considering multiple options for the future home of the team.
“Yeah, I think so, but I don’t think [the new owners] have ruled anything out, that’s for sure.
“They are very open-minded. It’s just what is best for the women’s programme?
“Is it building Walton Hall Park out, so it looks like Kingsmeadow, is it finding another venue, or is it going into the new stadium?
“We have better people than me to make those decisions in terms of what’s best for the long-term programme on the women’s side, so let’s see what they come up with, but I just know they are very supportive.”
Playing at Goodison Park in the future could help the growth of Everton’s women’s team and will help preserve the history of the ‘Grand Old Lady’.
