World Number 10 golfer Tommy Fleetwood is hoping to get in contention at this month’s Masters in Augusta.
The Southport star spoke to Merseysportlive as he received an honorary fellowship for his sporting achievements and work with Liverpool John Moore’s School of Sport and Exercise Sciences.
We were at the graduation at Liverpool Anglican Cathedral to ask about his performance in The Players Championships and his hopes for the Masters, which starts on April 10.
Fleetwood said of The Players: “I played really well, and I was happy with certain things because I didn’t feel like I played very well on Thursday, but I managed to do the right things on Thursday night to be able to play well on Friday.
“There was a little bit of disappointment that I couldn’t quite push on and get closer but at the same time I felt like my game was in a good place.
“I did a lot of good things, and you can never be disappointed if you finish 5th, 10th, 15th, 20th.
“Whatever it is, you played very good golf to get there, so I was very happy with that.”

He is also hoping for another successful Masters and to stay in contention by Sunday’s final round.
“I’d love to get myself into contention, do the right things and see how I feel and how well I can play finding myself up there on the Saturday and Sunday and from there who knows.
“Of course, every tournament you set out to win. But there’s plenty that goes into that.
“Hopefully come masters Sunday it will be another enjoyable experience.”
