Ever since it was confirmed The Friedkin Group took over as owners of Everton FC, there has been an air of optimism around the club.

The Friedkin Group is a consortium owned by American businessman Dan Friedkin. They also own Italian outfit AS Roma.

Although Roma have had varying success since the Friedkin takeover, there is no doubt that they have enough resources to turn Everton into a top-tier Premier League club.

Among many appointments made by the new owners, there are a few that will heavily impact the 2025/26 campaign.

Marc Watts, President at The Friedkin Group, was appointed Executive Chairman of the club when the takeover was confirmed. Watts has a wealth of business experience, having been managing partner of successful law firm Locke Lord LLP previously.

When appointed at Everton, Watts said:

“Together, we will usher Everton into a new era, one that is marked by ambition and professionalism.

“The Friedkin Group will take a focused approach, one that is driven by innovation and business experience.”

Watts will hopefully bring his impressive expertise to lead Everton into the modern era.

More recently, Christopher Sarofim joined the club’s ownership group Roundhouse Capital Holdings Limited. He’s had almost 40 years in investment and fund management. This may come in helpful to avoid any future Financial Fair Play breaches.

Dallas Mavericks (NBA) Head Coach Jason Kidd has also joined the club’s ownership.

Executive Chairman Marc Watts commented on this addition:

“He is a respected leader and household name for many sports fans and will bring a deeper understanding of high performance as we collectively strive to build a brighter future for this storied club.”

These multiple changes in the ownership structure should add a more organised approach to the club’s operations for next season and beyond.
