Tranmere Rovers currently sit second in the EFL League Two table, 11 points off Forest Green who currently maintain the top spot.
In an exclusive interview with Merseysportlive, forward Charlie Jolley has discussed his side’s chances of automatic promotion and his first season in league football.
The 21-year-old started the season off with a loan spell at Chester, but he only appeared six times for The Seals before he was recalled by Tranmere.
Just a few days after returning to Rovers, he made his debut against Oldham Athletic and scored the only goal of the match in the final minute to secure a 1-0 victory.
Jolley said: “It was surreal – an unbelievable feeling.
“It’s good scoring a goal at any time but doing it in the last minute emphasized the importance of the goal.
“To get all the points and score my first professional league goal is something I will always remember.
“I played for Chester on the Saturday, then on the Monday I received the phone call to say I had been recalled.
“The next game was on the Tuesday and he (Micky Mellon, Tranmere manager) just put me straight in and it done wonders for my confidence.”
The Super White Army went on a fantastic run after Jolley’s last-minute winner, going on an eight-match unbeaten streak in the league, which has certainly put them in the running for an automatic promotion spot.
“In the past two to three months we have certainly kicked on, the aim for us is to get automatic promotion.
“Although we are over 10 points off the leaders, I feel we can still make that gap up and win the league title, but the main priority is to secure automatic promotion.”
The Liverpool-born forward signed for Rovers in 2019 after coming through the Wigan Athletic academy.

The striker has scored four times for Tranmere this season and says his aims for the rest of the season are to “play as many games and score as many goals as I can”.
“The ultimate goal as a team is to get promoted,” he added.
“The ideal scenario would be to get promoted and score a few more goals and play as much as I can to help the team.”
Tranmere face ninth-placed Port Vale tomorrow (February 19) at Prenton Park and are looking to tighten their grip on automatic promotion to League 1.
