Tyson Fury has reportedly signed a mega-deal worth £11.9 million with the WWE for their upcoming event in Saudi Arabi, Crown Jewel.
Where it all began
The gypsy king caused quite the stir when he appeared in the crowd of the FOX premiere of Friday Night Smackdown.
Fury even got involved in the action jokingly squaring up with WWE superstar Braun Strowman.
Things got serious though when Strowman hurled Dolph Ziggler into Fury intentionally.
The boxer jumped over the barricade to confront the ‘monster among men’ and that’s when security rushed to stop the men.
Brawl on RAW
Fury was then announced for Monday Night RAW the following week.
The gypsy king was demanding an apology from Strowman. An apology would not be given though, instead, a brawl broke out and the two men went at it.
After Strowman and Fury had cleared the ring of security trying to hold them back, the rest of the WWE locker room came out to separate the giants.
Backstage Braun was interviewed and when asked if Tyson would ever get his apology he said:
“Of course not! Not after that.
“Coming into my house disrespecting me and my business in the WWE!
“I don’t play that type of crap Tyson Fury!”
Fight announcement
On October 11th, WWE held a press conference about their upcoming event in Saudi Arabi. Wrestling legend Triple H announced that the lineal heavyweight champion will go one-on-one with the ‘monster among men’ Braun Strowman.
Fury spoke at the press conference saying:
“I just want to say how excited I am to be fighting the monster among men Braun Strowman.
“After seeing him I really know why he has the nickname [monster among men] but me being the undefeated lineal heavyweight boxing champion, I fear no man.
“I am undefeated in 30 professional contests and when I go to Saudi Arabi to fight Braun Strowman, I am still going to be undefeated because I going to knock Braun Strowman out.
“He talks about how good his hands are but he’s messing with the guy who has the best hands in boxing.”
The fight will take place on October 31st in Jeddah, Saudi Arabi.
Personally requested
According to Wrestling Observer’s Dave Meltzer, Fury was personally requested by the royal family members in Saudi Arabi.
WWE officials were given the task of securing his services.
With the boxer being a lifelong fan of WWE it was not going to take much. Fury and his team had discussions with WWE several years ago for him to make an appearance but they fell through.
Fury vs. Wilder II in doubt?
With reports of the mega-deal surfacing, doubts have been put on the highly-anticipated rematch between Fury and Deontay Wilder. Boxing manager Frank Warren claims that the heavyweight champion did not discuss this with him, saying:
“I’m not in favour of this and it does put the Wilder fight in jeopardy.
“But he’s a grown man who makes his own decisions.
“I hope it’s more of a show than a fight.”
