After a few days without a winner, Toby got us back up and running yesterday. Aidan Coleman securing a winner for us on 7/4 shot Midnight Callisto.
Jumps season is well and truly back underway with four meetings taking place this afternoon. The three English meetings consist of Southwell, Ludlow and Carlisle and the sole Irish meeting takes place at Thurles.
As flat season begins to gradually end, there is just the two meetings this evening. The two destinations are Wolverhampton and Chelmsford.
Focusing on just the jumps meetings, here are my tips for the day…
NAP-: Global tour Ludlow 16:45. Winning on five of his last eight starts, Fergal O’Brien will be confident of seeing this horse in the winner’s enclosure once again. Winning at the course just over two weeks ago has resulted in an 8lb penalty; however jockey Max Kendrick claims 3lb of that back. The small rise in weight should be no issue, with the horse suited to the ground.
NB- Garry Clermont 14:45 Southwell. In a fairly open race, where a number of horses present a valuable case for victory, Jonjo O’Neil’s Garry Clermont stands out for me. After landing a bumper at Aintree and a previous point-to-point winner, the four year old heads into the race unbeaten and will be hoping to add a win over hurdles to the collection.
Each-Way – For Three 15:00 Carlisle. Heading into the race on the back of two wins at Hexham, Brian Hughes has once again been booked to ride For Three for James Ewart. Both of those wins came over two miles on good ground, so todays conditions are extremely suitable. Brian Hughes is already looking to challenge champion jockey Richie Johnson for that crown this season, and he will be hoping to add another victory in this race.
