In what was a damp and wet affair at Windleshaw, play off chasers Ashton Town, saw off a late challenge from table toppers FC St Helens to win 3-1.
Ashton found their feet first in the muddy conditions, and Ashton eventually made their pressure pay in the 26th minute when striker George Lomax fired into the top left corner.

FC St Helen’s responded quickly with a flurry of chances but Town ‘keeper James McCleneghan but he held firm to maintain his sides’ 1-0 lead against the league leaders.
On 33 minutes Lomax was in the right place at the right time again, firing from close range to make it 2-0.
FC St Helens left-back Van-Atson made way for striker Thomas Scarborough.
Ashton Town though extended their lead through Lomax, but the Stripes started to dominate with chances for Josh Hall and Joseph Barker saved by Town’s McCleneghan and efforts from Brendan O’Brian hit just off target.
FC grabbed a a consolation late on through debutant Hall, but it wasn’t to be for the table toppers who see their lead narrow at the top of the table.
