Title-chasers Prenton RUFC are back in action in the HALBRO North West Leagues on Saturday as they face Parkonians in a local derby clash.ย
Prentonโs game was postponed last week because of a waterlogged pitch. St Edwards took advantage to clinch top spot.
Prop Jamie Gardiner is looking forward to the team returning to full strength, he for one isn’t one who wants to miss out. “I’m a big lad so rugby is one of the only sports I can actually do.
“I’m getting fitter and enjoying it a lot more because it’s one of the things I’ve done my whole life and it’s been great for me, making me feel so much better mentally and physically. The rugby pitch is one of my happy places.
“I’m a slow runner that does the set pieces, puts in a few big carries, tackles and guards the rucks. I’ve got a very simple job compared to the other lads but as long as I’m doing my bit to help the team win, that’s all that matters”.
The 20 year old lives on Birkenhead’s the Woodchurch estate and moved from Caldy due to the lack of playing opportunities.
Despite putting out two full squads every week, the club are still looking for more additions.
