Everton Under 21’s face their second trip to the Alexandra Stadium in a week, as they clash with Crewe Alexandra again, tomorrow night (Tuesday 12th November, 19:45).
The result of their previous encounter was a 2-2 draw, with the out of favour first-team striker Oumar Niasse, netting a brace for the young Blues.
First plays second in this Leasing.com Trophy fixture, with Everton U21’s sat on top spot with six points, and Crewe Alexandra second-best – just two points behind.
David Unsworth’s Everton will be hoping to go one better this time out to solidify their position at the top of Northern Group E.
Although, it will not be easy for the young Toffees. Both sides go into this match in a rich vein of form, with Crewe and Everton only losing one game each in their last six outings.
Away from the Leasing.com Trophy, Crewe are also right in the mix in Sky Bet League Two, currently positioned in fourth and just a solitary point from leading the competition.
Fans will be hoping to witness some magic from Everton starlet Anthony Gordon, who’s performances have recently earnt himself a call up to Everton’s first team.
Meanwhile, Marco Silva has also labelled the youngster – “the future of Everton Football Club”.
If he’s in the matchday squad tomorrow, all eyes will be on Gordon to invigorate Everton’s attack and consolidate their position at the summit of Northern Group E.
