Tranmere Rovers will take on Crewe Alexandra in their return to Prenton Park on Saturday as they look to capitalise on two wins in a row on the road.

The home side are undefeated in their last six at Prenton Park and are aiming to put a stop to high flying Crewe’s momentum as they hope to climb back up the table.

The ‘Super White Army’ are 17th in the league following last week’s 2-1 victory over Grimsby Town, which saw Tranmere escape with the three points following an own goal from the opponents in the second half.

Nigel Adkins’ side are sitting on 36 points. The middle of the table is really tight with just one point separating 13th and 18th spots. A win for Tranmere against Crewe could see them go level with Crawley Town who are in 12th place before the weekend.

A win for the Railwaymen would see them go to 53 points and overtaking Wrexham to sit in second place heading into the business end of the season.

Both teams go into the game with a lot at stake as Adkins looks to steady the ship on Merseyside while Lee Bell has an exciting shot at promotion with this Crewe side. The experience of Adkins will prove a challenge for any side in the league, but Bell is up to the task as he has set his side on an exciting path this season.

Crewe have won their last four games including victories in their last three games on the road. This impressive run has put them in fifth place in the table. The home side are undefeated in their last six at Prenton Park.

Tranmere have lost their last two meetings against Crewe with both being away from home.

This game will also serve as Tranmere Rovers’ annual memorial game that honours the lives lost in 2023 as a memorial service is set to take place on the pitch before kick-off.
