Performing at a strike rate of 26.32%, we are due a winner. So the spotlight has turned to me once more to provide you with those winning horses. We are still going strong with a level stakes rating at +£21.29, to every £1 stake on our selections.
After Sheldon‘s long absence, he returned to action yesterday, but unfortunately could not find a winner out of his three runners.
The jump meeting at Plumpton has survived the current adverse weather across the UK and Ireland and goes ahead with a seven-race card, beginning at 12:30. The going is Soft, Heavy in Places, and my NAP and NB run on this card.
The same cannot be said for the meeting at Leicester, which was abandoned yesterday morning due to standing water on the track.
The all-weather meetings today begin at 12:50 from Wolverhampton. There are a further seven races from the Midlands track, where the Tapeta track is Standard. My Each-Way runner is in the 2:20.
The evening meeting is the other side of Birmingham, at Southwell. We begin there at 4:15 for a tricky eight-race card. The going again is Standard on the fibresand track.
Here are my tips for today:
NAP: Juge Et Parti – 2:00 Plumpton
Brodie Hampson rides again for the former Nigel Twiston-Davies gelding, now trained by Archie Watson. Watson does not have many runners over the jump courses, and this is a standout having won comfortably last time at Hereford.
NB: Velvet Cognac – 3:30 Plumpton
Finally won last time out at Fontwell over two furlongs shorter in distance. He has definitely got a shout in this low-class staying hurdle race, after being competitive in a class above two seasons back.
Each-Way – The King’s Steed – 2:20 Wolverhampton
A winner at Chelmsford two starts ago, and competitive here last month. Has won over course and distance in the past. One negative is that Kieran Shoemark, on-board, has not been bang in form of recent, but the majority of his horses have been towards the bottom of the market.
