The Mariners will make a seven hour round trip tomorrow (Saturday Oct 18) as they face off against 18th placed Peterborough Sports in the National League North.
This will be the first meeting between the two sides in their history after Marine’s promotion to the division last season.
Neil Young’s team sit in 22nd place, inside the relegation zone after winning just two of their first 10 games, scoring just four goals.
The Mariners will be hoping to leapfrog their opponents in the league and win two consecutive games for the first time since April.
Peterborough are coming into the game after a triple header against Rushall Olympic.
The Turbines lost against their fellow National League North side in the league before taking them to a replay in the FA Cup which they ultimately lost 5-4 on penalties on Tuesday night.
Marine on the other hand have had a week break after defeating a winless Radcliffe at the Marine Travel Arena thanks to a strike from Kristi Montgomery.
Young is hoping his side can kick on from the win against the Manchester side. He said: “In most games we’ve played really good, but it’s been proven in this league already that you get very few chances, and you’ve got to defend better from set pieces.
“I think if we do those two bits, take our chances when they come along or be better in them moments, I think we will improve.”
He added: “In this league, there’s no easy games at all for anybody, Peterborough is a different type of team, they’ve gone toe to toe in two games against Rushall [Olympic] this week in the FA Cup.
“I see them as similar to Rushall and Farsley [Celtic], teams we’ve struggled against them in the last few games we’ve played against them, so we’ve got to find a different way.”
Kick off is at 3pm on Saturday.
