The Cheshire Phoenix face the Super League leading London Lions at home this Sunday (March 2) as they look to end their recent streak of losses.

The Phoenix come into this game after losing four in a row, their last win coming against the Surrey 89ers on January 31.

London, on the other hand, have won six in a row and have not allowed more than 80-points in their last eight games.

Cheshire’s late game struggles have been evident in their recent losses to the Newcastle Eagles and B. Braun Sheffield Sharks.

Defensive struggles in the third quarter allowed Newcastle to go from two points behind to a 79-67 lead.

Cheshire have allowed the most points against them in the league this season (1704pts)

Speaking about his team’s defence Phoenix Head Coach Ben Thomas said: “We just want to play with more effort, more intensity defensively; just try and make teams uncomfortable.”

More glaringly, in their last home game against Sheffield they scored just six-points in the fourth quarter in a 65-87 loss.

In spite of these struggles, the Nix have scored the second most points (1622pts) in the Super League this season with London being first (1651 pts).

Their scoring will be put to the test against the Lions on Sunday who have held their last eight opponents to 80-points or less.

Cheshire’s Head Coach Ben Thomas thinks the international break will have helped his team get some rest for minor injuries they have picked up this season.

He firmly believes that the team can turn their season around and “prove what we’re made of”.

The game tips off at 5:30pm at the Ellesmere Port Sports Village and is available to watch on DAZN.
