Marco Silva will remain in charge when Everton travel to Liverpool in the Merseyside derby on Wednesday night.
Silva took training at Finch Farm this morning (December 2) as normal and will also undertake media duties on Tuesday afternoon.
The Portuguese faced growing scrutiny amidst a week of silence from the Everton hierarchy following last week’s home defeat to Norwich City.
Director of football Marcel Brands gave Silva a vote of confidence on Friday, and the 42-year-old manager deserves credit for his conduct with his future seemingly hanging in the balance.
Kelechi Iheanacho’s 94th minute winner for Leicester in Sunday’s Premier League fixture was a particularly difficult blow for Everton to take, who had led until Jamie Vardy’s 68th minute equaliser.
Silva’s side now sit 17th, only two points above the relegation zone after suffering an eighth defeat of the season.
Wednesday’s trip to Anfield is another game in a tough run of fixtures for the Blues which includes the visit of Chelsea, a trip to Manchester United and then Leicester in the Carabao Cup before they host Arsenal.
Everton fought for their manager, leaving suggestions that Silva had lost the backing of the dressing room wide of the mark.
Speaking after the game, the Everton boss insisted that his players’ commitment couldn’t be questioned.
“It’s a harsh result for my players,” Silva told Sky Sports. “But nobody can say anything about their commitment, about their attitude or about their ambition for this game – it was clear.
“We showed that because we knew we had to show a reaction after the performance against Norwich.
“It’s just the people who are not with us daily who are not seeing how we are together in this fight. The players are proving this. No one can say anything about their commitment. We will go to Anfield with the commitment we had this afternoon.”
