After Joseph Parker was forced to pull out of his October 26th fight with Derek Chisora, ‘Delboy’ was looking for a new dance partner. David Price stepped up.
Chisora was meant to be chief support to Josh Taylor vs Regis Prograis, who are battling it out in the final of the World Boxing Super Series (WBSS). Prograis and Taylor are attempting to unify the lightweight division, with both the IBF and WBA world lightweight titles on the line. This is as well as the Muhammad Ali Trophy which will go to the winner of the WBSS.
David Price answered the call and stepped up to the plate. The 6”8 scouser is coming off an exceptional performance against Dave Allen, in which he comprehensively out boxed his British rival.
Chisora is also on a rampage, after a devastating knockout of Artur Szpilka in July at the O2 Arena. The Londoner seems to be a rejuvenated fighter since teaming up with former rival, David Haye.
Since losing to Sergey Kuzmin at Wembley, David Price has put together a three fight win streak. ‘Pricey’ made light work of Tom Little, before beating Kash Ali as the Sheffield man was disqualified for biting Price.
Price went into the Dave Allen fight as the underdog, but quickly defied the bookmaker’s odds as he made the ‘White Rhino’ retire on his stool. It was the best performance of Price’s career to date, and the Liverpudlian giant will be looking to replicate that performance come fight night.
Luckily, Price was already in training for his fight on November 23rd at the M&S Bank Arena on Callum Smith’s undercard. Price is already in fantastic shape, and believes he can beat anyone in the division.
With the fight only 18 days away, fans cannot wait for these two British heavyweights to put on a show in the capital, in what could go down as a heavyweight classic.
