Football coach Dave Smith and owner of enjoyfootball.co.uk spoke to Merseysportlive about the impact sport can have on young people in deterring them away from crime.
Crime and especially knife crime is on the rise in major cities across the country, with Merseyside especially on the down, with knife crime incidents at their highest since 2008 and statistics continuously rising.
This follows up from my opinion piece earlier this week suggesting Liverpool’s athletes should do more to tackle knife crime in the city, through promoting various sports and programmes.
Dave Smith spoke about various topics, but insisted more should be done through Government initiatives that would help make sport more accessible to young people and keep them away from trouble.
