Tranmere Rovers are set to face Sunderland at the Stadium of Light on Tuesday Night (22nd of October).
The Super Whites secured a point in the dying minutes of the previous game against Southend United. Striker Paul Mullin struck late gold as he converted an 85th minute penalty.
With Tranmere sitting in at 19th, only one point clear of the relegation zone, they will be looking to capitalise on Sunderland’s current run of poor form and clinch onto as many points as possible.
Rovers’ boss Micky Mellon on the game vs Sunderland: “It will be a tough game, they are the biggest club in the division so it will be difficult. We will look forward to it, enjoy the challenge, get the boys rested and recovered and go again.”
Sunderland will be looking to bounce back from their first defeat under new manager Phil Parkinson. Therefore they’ll try to put on a good performance at the first home game under the new gaffer.
Speaking to SAFC.com about the upcoming game, Parkinson said: “There is an opportunity to get going again and not get too down about the defeat. It is important because we have an opportunity on Tuesday night to get three points on the board.”
Potential injuries and suspensions include:
For the Home Side: Aiden McGeady will miss the game after getting booked in the previous game against Wycombe meaning he has accumulated too many yellow cards.
For the Visitors: Striker Ishmael Miller, midfielders Jacob Maddox and Ollie Banks and defenders Calum Woods, Evan Gumbs and Mark Ellis are all out with injuries. Potential returns for Morgan Ferrier and David Perkins as they recently came back to full fitness.
