Liverpool’s FA Cup clash against Aston Villa is in doubt after a confirmed outbreak of coronavirus at Villa’s training ground which has been closed.

A number of senior Villa players are in isolation ahead of tomorrow night’s game which could be called off.

If the tie does go ahead, it is expected to be youth players picked for Villa.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp told the media earlier today that Joel Matip and Naby Keita remain sidelined ahead of the game.

Klopp confirmed Matip and Keita will not be ready in time for the match after falling to recover from long term injuries.

But he did give fans hope that striker Diogo Jota who could return to action by the end of the month.

However, any chance of the club making new signings in January – particularly in the centre back are – remains small.

He told the media it was unlikely the club would make any signings during the January transfer window because “of the situation in the world”.

When asked about the contract stalemate for midfielder Gini Wijnaldum, Klopp added: “I think I’ve said everything about it.”
