Everton boss Marco Silva sounded in high spirits and full of confidence in today’s press conference as Everton welcome Norwich.
Following the sacking of Tottenham Coach Mauricio Pochettino and Jose Mourinho’s appointment, questions over Marco’s job were a key topic.
Firstly, the Everton boss was quick to congratulate friend Jose Mourinho on his new job. Alluding to Jose, he said “It is very good for him to be back”. Followed by “very good for the Premier League as well.”
Silva was also quick to have his say on Mauricio Pochettino’s situation. “He has to be proud of everything he achieved at Tottenham.”
The conference was then followed by a tough question. When asked ‘do you look for reassurances following such a high-profile sacking?’ his response was a confident one.
“No” he simply said in a laughable manner. “We don’t have to look to the other clubs.”
“We as a club have to look for ourselves and what we want to do.”
This indicated that Marco feels safe in his job despite recent questions over his performance.
When talking about the pressure the Everton job brings, he again responded in confidence. “It is a privilege to have pressure” was his response. He was also compared to previous managers in his first 50 games.
“The next 50 I want more, I want to improve these numbers.”
Another key talking point in the conference was the recent speculation over Moise Kean’s early Everton career doubts. Following some controversial things said by the father of the Italian international, fans have questioned Kean’s Everton’s future.
“Moise has all the support here and doesn’t need to find nothing.”
“We really believe in him”, this is his present, his future, his house”.
Silva also compared the young Italian forward to Liverpool’s Fabinho in regards to adaptability.
“Of course he wants to play more, Fabinho didn’t play for months and months”.
This conference was a positive one for the Everton fans to hear. A win for Silva’s team tomorrow leaves them with 4 wins in 5 games.
