Tonight’s game between Widnes Wild and Telford Tigers 2 at Planet Ice has been postponed, Widnes have announced.
The safety of fans and players has come into question with Storm Ciara hammering vast areas of the country, with both teams agreeing to rearrange the fixture.
Strong winds and heavy rainfall arrived last night, making travel for both sets of supporters, players and officials a significant risk.
No date for the rearranged fixture has been confirmed as yet, but Widnes confirmed both teams will be in conversation with the National Ice Hockey League ensure the game goes ahead later in the year.
News Flash: After discussions with @Telford_Tigers it has been agreed to cancel todays games due to the weather. Clearly the well being of the players, fans and officials has to come first. Both teams will liaise with the league to agree a new date.
