Tonight’s game between Widnes Wild and Telford Tigers 2 at Planet Ice has been postponed, Widnes have announced.

The safety of fans and players has come into question with Storm Ciara hammering vast areas of the country, with both teams agreeing to rearrange the fixture.

Strong winds and heavy rainfall arrived last night, making travel for both sets of supporters, players and officials a significant risk.

No date for the rearranged fixture has been confirmed as yet, but Widnes confirmed both teams will be in conversation with the National Ice Hockey League ensure the game goes ahead later in the year.

The Wild currently sit fifth in the ‘Laidler Division’, with a number of games in hand on the teams above, while Telford are seventh.

Widnes’ next scheduled game is a trip to 3rd placed Bradford Bulldogs on February 22nd.
