Eight of Liverpool’s loan players were in action this past weekend with a mixed set of results. Of the 8 players in action this weekend there were no goals nor assists credited to the Liverpool loanees.
In the Championship, defender Sepp van den Berg however was able to keep a clean sheet as part of a strong defensive display in Preston’s 3-0 victory over Huddersfield Town. The 19 Year old played the full 90 Minutes.
Fellow Championship loanee’s were less successful as Cardiff pair Harry Wilson and Sheyi Ojo were held to a 1-1 draw with Middlesbrough, ending a run of 6 straight victories for the Welsh side.
Harvey Elliot was also in championship action this weekend playing the full 90 Minutes for Blackburn against Coventry City.
In League One, Adam Lewis made his second start for Plymouth Argyle playing 81 Minutes against Lincoln City in a back-and-forth contest that was eventually snatched at the death when Joe Edwards scored a stoppage time winner.
Liam Millar played the first half in a disappointing 3-0 home defeat for Charlton Athletic at the hands of Blackpool.
Across Europe there were a number of other Red’s in action, keeper Loris Karius’ Union Berlin were held to a 1-1 draw by Hoffenheim, whilst Kamil Grabara’s AFC Aarhus were also held to a draw in their Danish Superliga tie with Kobenhaven following a 101’ penalty deep into stoppage time.
Marko Grujic was the only player included in a matchday squad not to get any minutes as he remained on the bench for FC Porto’s goalless draw against Sporting.
Elsewhere, Takumi Minamino is not expected to feature in Southampton upcoming tie with Everton this evening after suffering a minor calf issue.
Saint’s boss Ralph Hassenhuttl said “[Minamino] can maybe come back next week as it’s not a big injury”
