St Helens are looking to make history this season as they attempt to become the first side to win four Super League titles on the bounce.
They completed the ‘three peat’ with a 12-10 victory over Catalan Dragons at Old Trafford in October, completing a double for the team.
Players to watch
As always, captain and club stalwart James Roby, who will be playing his last season as a professional is the main man for Saints and is nicknamed ‘Mr Consistent’
Other players include LMS, Morgan Knowles and Tommy Makinson, who has been handed a testimonial year at the club, all of which have played a part in the success of the club in recent years.
Head Coach
Kristian Woolf has been at the helm since 2019, and led the team to their first challenge cup title in 13 years last season, as well as the teams historic ‘three peat’
Woolf has also coached the Tongan national side, taking them from 14th to fourth in the world rankings during his five years as coach.
Saints kick off their season next Thursday in a repeat of the Grand Final last season, as Catalans visit the Totally Wicked Stadium, an away trip to Hull FC follows.
And then they return home against Wakefield, rounding off the opening month.
A trip to France to face newly promoted Toulouse is followed by the first local derby of the season against Wigan in mid-April, with a Challenge cup final rematch against Castleford coming at the end of April.
Magic Weekend is once again at St James’ Park, with the second derby of the season taking place in July.
The saints finish the regular season at the start of September with a home clash against Toulouse, with play off qualification hopefully secured as the team go for four in a row.
