University of Liverpool 1st team beat Liverpool John Moores 1st team in a competitive encounter.
Both sides were well supported which helped bring another dimension to this clash.
This game followed on from UOL second team beating the LJMU second team beforehand, meaning UOL claimed all the Varsity points from Netball.
Despite the loss, goalkeeper (GK) Sophie Wisniewski said “it was a great end to the season even though we didn’t come out with the win”.
UOL started the game the fastest, racing to a 3-0 before a minute had even been played.
LJMU managed to keep the game within touching distance in the first quarter.
Heading into the first break, UOL led 17-14.
After the break, the game was stopped after inappropriate language in the crowd.
LJMU will rue missed chances as UOL began to pull ahead heading into the final quarters.
UOL were the more clinical side which gained them a healthy buffer on the scoreboard.
The game finished 53-46 but Sophie was still please with the season overall.
Overall, LJMU finished top of the league, which means they are going up to tier 1, as well as reaching the final in the Conference Cup.
Sophie said: “I’ve been proud of them all season and they have really put in the effort in training.”
