Britain’s best gymnasts will gather in Liverpool tomorrow for the British Gymnastics Championships.
It’s the second consecutive year the event has been held in the city, and this year it will be at the Exhibition Centre at King’s Dock.
Liverpool also hosted The World Gymnastics Championships at the M&S Bank Arena in October and November last year.
That event saw more than 400 of the best gymnasts from all over the world gather in Merseyside to compete over nine days of action.
From March 23-26, the Exhibition Centre will welcome the best British gymnasts competing across a series of events, including All-Around, Apparatus and Aspire Apparatus.
There is also the Disability Masters, which allows para gymnasts to compete.
A spokesperson for British Gymnastics told Merseysportlive: “We are delighted to once again be hosting Britain’s best artistic gymnasts in Liverpool.
“We have a long tradition of competing in the city and the gymnasts really enjoy the electric atmosphere that the Liverpool crowd bring.
“Last year’s hugely successful World Championships typified this with the crowd cheering the GB gymnasts on to history making performances.
“This year’s British Championships will see the biggest names in action, like triple Olympic champion Max Whitlock OBE and recently crowned World Champion and BBC Young Sportsperson of the year Jessica Gadirova.
“With four days of action across the apparatus and the age groups there’s going to be plenty for everyone to enjoy.”
Gold medallists in the Women’s Senior Finals last year included Jessica Gadirova (x2), her sister Jennifer Gadirova and Alice Kinsella.
In the Men’s Senior Finals, gold medals were won by Jake Jarman (x2), Joe Fraser (x2), Courtney Tulloch and Giarnni Regini-Moran.
