After making his professional debut against Ed Harrison in 2021 Peter McGrail has gone on a seven-fight win streak picking up 5 TKO wins along the way.
On Saturday night at the M&S Bank Arena, the Liverpudlian takes on his toughest opponent yet in Fran Mendoza for the WBA Continental Super Bantamweight title. McGrail steps out for his first professional title fight on the undercard of Jack Catterall vs Jorge Linares.
The 26-year-old unbeaten Columbian fighter is a slight underdog going into this fight given McGrail’s amateur pedigree as one of Liverpool’s most decorated amateur boxers.

The main talking point of the bout is that Mendoza is the first undefeated opponent McGrail has faced so far in his professional career, with a record of 17-0 with seven of those wins coming by way of stoppage. It will be interesting to see what approach the Scouser takes against such an experienced boxer.
In his last bout McGrail picked up a convincing unanimous decision win over Nicolas Botelli where he determined the pace of the fight early on as the aggressor connecting with clean shots to the head and body, gradually wearing his opponent down over 10 rounds.
The 2018 Commonwealth Games gold medallist is joined by fellow Liverpudlian Paddy Lacey on the undercard who looks to continue his nine-fight win streak against Owen Kirk at middleweight after his decision win against Fernando Valencia last month.
Tickets for Catterall vs. Linares at the M&S Arena are priced at £40, £60, £100, £150 and £250 (VIP).
