Liverpool Cricket club will host a Lancashire two second eleven matches this summer, with the long term hope of staging first class cricket at Aigburth next year.

Lancashire’s Second Eleven will host Middlesex June, and Yorksire in the last game of the season in September. Meanwhile, for the third year in a row, Southport and Birkdale CC has got the nod to host a county championship match as Lancashire host Nottinghamshire.

This will be the first time in five years that the Second XI have played at LCC, the last result a draw against Yorkshire in 2019.

This fixture has been scheduled with the hopes of having the first team fulfil a fixture at the Merseyside venue in 2025.

The last time Lancashire cricket visited Liverpool the first team beat Hampshire in 2021, by one wicket.
