The University of Liverpool Rugby League team have been at the heart of the fundraising efforts to raise money for Teenage Cancer Trust, after their teammate, Eleni Dodds, was diagnosed with a rare terminal bone cancer last year.
After a six month battle for what was initially thought a rugby injury, Dodds finally received her diagnosis and since then, received overwhelming support from her teammates. Raising nearly £2500, the women’s side have organised events such as a Sports Day last December to not only raise money but to highlight the importance of getting sporting injuries checked out.
Nicknamed the Abu Dubai Queen by her peers, the 20-year-old is being looked after by the Teenage Cancer Trust in Southampton. The charity run solely off donations to provide cancer specialists and hospital units for all those affected by cancer.
