Teenage sensation Luke Littler defeated Gerwyn Price 6-3 in the final and Michael Van Gerwen in the quarter-final to move into first place in the PDC Premier League table.
Welshman Price hit a superb nine darter in his 6-3 semi-final victory over St Helens star Michael Smith.
Bahrain Masters champion Littler hit checkouts of 131 and 136 in his 6-4 semi-final victory over Nathan Aspinall.
Littler has three nine-dart finishes this year and told Merseysportlive after his final victory he is currently one of the best scorers.
“I’m up there with the very best but that’s what helps us the most scoring, and you have to find the way to the double and hit it.”
“The Nuke” became the 33rd player to have a televised darting average of 114.00 and above after he defeated MVG on night 7 of the Premier League.
Littler said recent support and appearances on shows such as the Johnathon Ross show have motivated him.
“It has (motivated me) when it’s an off day I’m getting these opportunities to meet these guys who I’m looking up to and just have a normal chat with them and talk about what I do it chills me out.”
Smith defeated reigning World Champion Luke Humphries in the quarter-finals 6-3 despite a stunning 167 checkout from Humphries.
Former world number 1 Price produced a stunning performance against Peter Wright in the quarter-final beating Snakebite 6-4.
Despite being bottom of the Premier League there was encouragement for Wright after he averaged 110 in defeat.
World Matchplay Champion Nathan Aspinall averaged over 100.00 to beat Rob Cross 6-3 in the quarter-final.
The results mean Smith sits in fifth place two points of MVG who is on 17 points.
Littler is first one point ahead of second-placed Luke Humphries who is on 22 points.
Two-time major winner Aspinall is third on 18 points after reaching four nightly finals.
