The NFL season is well underway and lots of new faces have entered this season with high expectations surrounding them – none more so than the first draft pick Caleb Williams.
The Chicago Bears quarter back earned his pick this year after impressing at college level with the Oklahoma Sooners.
He travels to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium to face the Jacksonville Jaguars this Sunday and will be hoping to make a good impression on his first trip to England.
The start of the season for the 22-year-old has not been as exciting as fans would’ve hoped when he signed for The Bears.
According to ESPN, Williams has a pass completion of 62.9% so far this season with 1,091 passing yards completed in total, the 16th best in the league.
His Total Quarter Back rating (QBR) is also ranked low in 29th place with a 36.3 score.
However, in his last two matchups against the LA Rams and Carolina Panthers he has scored three touchdowns and completed 37 passes of the 51 he has attempted, a big improvement from his first encounter in the NFL against the Tennessee Titans where only 48.3% of his passes were completed.
Williams now has five touchdowns this season after a successful bout against the Panthers, in which he also recorded 304 passing yards.
After it seemed like the Bears’ star would struggle at the top level, the young rookie has certainly started to impress. But he still has lots of work to do to reach similar levels of the best players in the league.
A trip to England will excite the rookie as he will be determined to put his team’s record to four and two.
Kick-off on Sunday is at 2.30pm.
