Marine suffered a 2-0 loss against Peterborough Sports at Pims Park that saw them slip a place to 23rd in the league, two points from safety.
It was the second home win of the season for the Turbines, scoring more in this game than they had managed at home all season.
The visitors started the game the stronger of the two sides, passing the ball well and making the better chances.
The best chance for Marine came in the 11th minute. After some good passing play in the middle of the park, the ball was played wide to Kristi Montgomery who had found space. He delivered a low ball across the Peterborough six yard box to Finlay Sinclair-Smith who couldn’t hit the target.
The home side grew into the game with their best chance coming in the 37th minute with the ball falling nicely to William Van Lier in the Marine penalty area, who scuffed his shot wide.

The first chance of the second half came from Dan Jarvis for Sports where he found his shot cleared off the goal line superbly by Montgomery.
It was all Marine after this however, as they continued to look like they would break the deadlock.
This seemed sure to happen after they were awarded a penalty in the 71st minute after a Sinclair-Smith cross hit the arm of Matt Tootle. Sinclair-Smith stepped up to take the penalty himself, but he dragged the shot wide.
The Turbines responded by instantly going up the other end and finding the breakthrough thanks to Dan Jarvis but also poor defending from a deflated looking Marine. The ball ricocheted off Tom Atcheson before falling kindly to Jarvis, who found the net.
The Mariners worked to get back into the game but failed to make any clear chances after conceding the goal.
Sports were gifted a chance to double their lead in the 85th minute after a poor back pass from James Butler was almost latched onto by the Peterborough forward. Matthew Corran got there first however and it was eventually cleared away.
Peterborough didn’t have to wait long to double their lead, with Dion Sembie-Ferris finding the net in the 92nd minute after a swift counter attack to put the result out of sight.
Neil Young’s side will have the chance to move out of the relegation zone on Tuesday as they head to Kidderminster Harriers.
