Sunday’s Women’s Super League Merseyside derby at Goodison Park will be the Grand Old Lady’s final outing for the historic fixture.
Brian Sorensen’s side, currently in the relegation zone after three draws and four losses, will return to L4 in search of their first three points this season.
The Reds will hope to bounce back after their 3-0 defeat at home against reigning champions Chelsea last week.
Goalkeeper Courtney Brosnan, in her post match interview with EvertonTV, insisted her side must follow last weekend’s draw with Crystal Palace with a positive result against Liverpool: “It’s not the result we wanted in terms of the three points, we get one point and we’re taking steps forward.
“We need to continue this momentum into the Derby next week and progressing through the season, that’s important to take those small wins and keep moving forward.”
Everton captain Megan Finnigan has a strong history against Sunday’s opponents, having scored the winner at Anfield last season and getting on the scoresheet as the Toffees dominated away from home the in the previous campaign.
She told EvertonTV: “Over the last few years, we’ve been pretty successful in the derbies. We’ve played well and when we go to their place, we obviously have been able to get the win but not yet at Goodison.
“A win this weekend would be the ultimate send-off and, for our season in general, it would just be really important for us to get one over them.”

Liverpool conceded two goals in five minutes prior to the interval against Chelsea last week but fought back well after the break without being able to translate their efforts into a goal.
Liverpool manager Matt Beard told Liverpoolfc.com: “We had a few passages of play that were good, it’s just frustrating when it’s our mistakes that led to the goals. We can just take the positives into the next game and work on what we need to improve. Every game this season is tough.”
Naturally, Beard wants a different outcome from the derby, after the previous two defeats at home and the two draws in the last fixtures at Goodison Park.
He said: “When you go into a derby, everything is scrapped. It’s a derby and you want to get those three points. We want it to be red, they want it to be blue. It’s a totally different game and they’re going to put everything into it and so are we. It’ll be a real fight. We’re looking forward to it.
