Kieron Morris has admitted the recent international break came at a bad time for Tranmere Rovers.
Successive wins over Stockport in the EFL trophy and then Newport in League Two had seen Rovers gain some momentum after a stuttering start to the season.
Their game against Fleetwood was postponed due to The Cods’ international commitments. That left Nigel Adkins side without a game last weekend meaning they have gone 10 days without a match ahead of tonight’s trip to Cheltenham Town.
Morris told Mersey Sport Live: “When you have got momentum in the team, it is important you keep that going and we know so far this season our form hasn’t been great.
“Coming off the back of two wins, what we needed was to carry that on. The break can go either way, it can give you rest to focus and go again but we just have to turn up against Cheltenham.”
Morris has had an injury hit start to the season but was relieved to grab his first goal of the of the campaign in the 2-1 home win over Newport.
That was only Morris’ eighth game of the season and he was delighted to double Tranmere’s lead in the 58th minute at Prenton Park.
The winger said: “It was a relief, I’ve been waiting quite a while, well since the beginning of the season (to score). I had a little injury after the first game of the season, which set me back a little bit.
“Since coming back, I’ve been playing in different positions but now I feel I am playing in my main position, which is on the wing, whether it’s right or left, and I feel I can get the best out of myself playing there.”
🗣️ "It's important that we use that confidence from those games and training throughout the week, and take that into tomorrow night."

Morris will be in contention for the Cheltenham game where he is hoping Tranmere can continue the run of form that took them into the international break.
He said: “We are working hard on the training ground and unfortunately results haven’t been going our way this year, so it was really good to get them two results.
“It lifts the team, it gives us confidence and it is important we use that confidence that we have got from them games and take it into training and to Cheltenham.”
The 30-year-old is now the longest serving player for Tranmere after signing in 2019 and is full of praise for the Merseyside club.
He said: “I’m settled here now, I’ve been here for like 5-6 years now. It’s a great club with a great fan base, it’s got all the facilities and everything you need. I love being here.”
