Everton are looking for their first win in four games as they travel to Old Trafford on Sunday. The Toffees are enduring a frustrating run of results after only picking up three points from their last four games.
It’s not just points Everton are desperate for. The lack of goals, only 10 scored this season, with just one in their last four games is a big concern for Manager Sean Dyche: “There are a mixture of good strikers but we have got to get them operating”.
The Toffies manager added: “We are just trying to find different ways of operating. the strikers at the club don’t have much experience at playing up top as a two.”
Dyche believes despite the concerns at the top of the pitch he is starting to see positive improvements in the defence. “There are obvious signs the defence has improved.” Finding the balance between solidifying the defence and improving the attack is the challenge he is trying to deal with.
The Blues currently find themselves slipping back into a relegation fight as they are only two points above the drop zone after twelve games. This weekend’s game against Manchester United will come with added pressure for Sean Dyche’s men as new Manchester United boss, Ruben Amorim takes charge of his first home Premier League Fixture.
Everton will be without a couple of key players for this weekend with James Garner (Back injury), Seamus Coleman (thigh injury). Armando Broja is in contention to feature for Everton for the first time since he joined on loan from Chelsea in the summer. Armando Broja played for the U21s against Nottingham Forest today.
Captain, Seamus Coleman is still out with a hamstring injury but according to Dyche is not far away from making a return.
The Red Devils will be without four key defenders, Harry Maguire, Leny Yoro, Johnny Evans and Victor Lindelöf who are all absent for this weekend, causing Ruben Amorim to have a potential dilemma at the back.
United will be hoping to build on from their Europa League victory in midweek as they look to win their first League game since mid-October. Amorim’s first game in charge last weekend saw them draw 1-1 away at newly promoted Ipswich.
When the two sides met in the league last season Manchester United came out on top both times, winning 0-3 and 2-0 respectively.
