Southport hosted Marine in a goalless draw in front of a combined 2464 fans.

Marine started quickly with a first minute corner resulting in a close call for the home side.

Southport soon turned the tide applying pressure going forward winning multiple corners in the first 10 minutes of play.

After a long period of possession Marine nearly grabbed the lead in the 27th minute with Calum Agius coming close to getting on the end of a through ball into the box, but Chris Renshaw was quick to sprint out and collect.

Just before half time the Southport support came close to celebration as Jack Doyle lofted a ball into the box, but it was just slightly too high for Dior Angus to head home.

There was more excitement before the end of the first half as Harvey Gregson hit a quick cross into the box that Agius volleyed just over.

Shortly after play resumed, Marine captain Josh Wardle was booked for a foul on the edge of his own box in the 47th minute.

Southport were first to make changes in the 60th minute as Jamie Proctor, Sam Minihan and Sonny Hilton replaced Angus, Matty Thomson and David Morgan.

Shortly after, Marine were back on the attack as Owen Robinson curled a shot just over the bar with the keeper beaten.

Southport, looking for the lead, charged forward but the ball was quickly turned over leading to Marcus Carver picking up a booking after preventing a counter attack in the 66th minute.

Another Southport player was punished with captain Philliskirk being shown a yellow card a few minutes later.

For a split second the home fans thought they had scored the winner as Hilton crossed after a short corner in the 81st minute, with Nathaniel Knight-Percival nearly tapping in at the back post but hitting slightly wide of the target.

Southport made their final change replacing the man of the match Philliskirk with Festus Arthur, while Marine brought on Brad Holmes for Enock Lusiama Lokeba.

The late changes were not enough for either team to find a goal as they settled for a point a-piece.
