Liverpool walked away from Anfield this afternoon in what can only be described as a game of two halves.

The Reds went in at half-time 2-0 up, but emerged in the second half a completely different team as Wolverhampton Wanderers pulled a goal back.

The majority of the second half was played in Liverpool’s half of the pitch as the Reds struggled to restore the rhythm shown in the first 45 minutes.

Luis Diaz scored the opener in the 15th minute as he bundled the ball across the line, beating Jose Sa and Emmanuel Agbadou to it.

Mohamed Salah then established a two goal lead for Liverpool after putting away a penalty won by Diaz.

Liverpool’s number 7 found himself through on goal as he rounded Sa but he was brought down by the Portuguese shot-stopper.

In the second half, Vitor Pereira’s side came out all guns blazing.

They created chances for fun and limited Liverpool to zero shots in the second half for the first time since 2003-04.

Matheus Cunha put the pressure on Liverpool with a beautiful left-footed shot to Alisson’s right to make it 2-1.

Wolves nearly equalised in the dying moments of the game but were denied thanks to a fantastic defensive action by Jarell Quansah.
