Cheshire Phoenix’s fourth quarter scoring drought resulted in a 87-65 loss at home to the B. Braun Sheffield Sharks in Men’s Super League Basketball.
Despite a slow start, Cheshire and Cam Holden found their rhythm and maintained a steady offence through the first quarter.
Skyler White put an exclamation point on this with a half-court buzzer beater to give Cheshire a 25-19 lead after ten minutes.
Sheffield looked to take back some of the momentum in the second quarter but a timeout from Phoenix coach Ben Thomas helped steady the ship.

Cheshire strengthened their defence and extended their lead to 11 points by the end of the first half.
Second Half
The Sharks came into the second half looking to close the gap.
Scoring from Rickey McGill brought Sheffield back into the game and eventually they took a one-point lead.
Back-and-forth scoring throughout the rest of the quarter meant that after 30 minutes played the score was 60-59 in Sheffield’s favour.
Both teams struggled to get their shots to fall in the final quarter, with Sheffield’s seven points being the only scoring in the first five minutes.
The late game struggles shown in the Nix’s game against Newcastle were apparent again.
Whilst the Sharks would eventually find their range in the quarter, Cheshire’s first two points of the fourth quarter only came with just over a minute left to play.

In the end, Sheffield’s 27 points in the quarter to just six in response saw the Cheshire Phoenix suffer their fourth loss in a row.
The Sharks’ Rickey McGill earned MVP of the game for his 29-point outing whilst TJ Atwood and Cameron Holden led the way for the Phoenix with 14 points each.
